Gilchrist Grief Counseling

Gilchrist offers grief counseling services to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss and is a resource to our families as they navigate their grief journey. After a child dies, you may feel lost and overwhelmed. At the same time, you may struggle with sadness, intense emotional pain and even anger. Gilchrist’s master’s prepared clinical counselors offer one-on-one counseling that can help guide you through your own unique stages of grief—leading you to a life that is different but still rich in meaning. Working with a counselor one-on-one can help you sort out your emotions and navigate your grief journey. Gilchrist also offers grief support groups, workshops, remembrance events and grief resources. Our counselors have expertise in the loss of a child and are recognized by the Association for Death Education and Counseling for competence in bereavement. “I am an Integrative psychotherapist who is able to support people who are struggling with depression and anxiety. I specialize in grief counseling, including suicide bereavement. My strengths as a counselor allow me to support people going through existential crises, major life transitions, as well as those who want to explore their spirituality. I have been a holistic health practitioner for over 43+ years, so I bring my understanding of the integration of the body, mind, and spirit to my counseling practice. I offer Energy Psychology techniques, Reiki, and Flower Essence therapy as adjunctive therapies to my counseling clients.

I use a client-centered, psychodynamic therapeutic approach. Together, we will look for the impacts and influences of your life experiences on your psyche, body, and spirit. I utilize a Heart-centered mindfulness approach, as well Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), to guide you in gaining strength in emotional regulation, as well as supporting your healing process of emotional traumas.

When we suffer as human beings, our present struggles are deeply connected to how the experiences of our past have negatively influenced our entire being, mostly impacting us beneath our conscious awareness. I would like to offer the support you need to be able to extricate yourself from your past traumas, and to help you reconnect with your True Self. In this way, you will be able to lead a more authentic life in the present.”

Lis Takes Clients ages 12 and up

Elisabeth “Lis” Miller, M.A., LGPC

Lis received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Duke University in 2001 and her Master’s in Counseling from Concordia University Irvine in 2024. She works with adolescents and adults and uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques within a Person-Centered framework.

“I believe that healing begins in a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported — and you don’t have to walk through your struggles alone. As a therapist, I strive to create a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore what’s on your mind and in your heart at your own pace. I work with both adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and feeling stuck or disconnected. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you uncover your strengths, and support you in making meaningful, lasting changes in your life. I’m here to walk alongside you — with warmth, curiosity, and care — as you take steps toward healing and growth. When you’re ready, reach out. I’d be honored to be part of your journey.”
